Maybe she's hired a new manager, as part of the supposed new revitalised campaign? She has time to create a new album whilst making videos etc. for the current album as long as she has a team who can handle everything else. She did it with TF and TFM.
Hopefully she's spent this break planning. It appears so.

Hopefully it'll be low profile because people won't neccissarily expect it outwith fans.
If they're smart, they'll do something like a site takeover with a countdown a week before the single drops. No official word beforehand.
It'd be good if they got the single out at least a month before the VMAs so it could really build momentum and use the performance as a push.
