Agreed. Though why not have more Mariah songs
I have to be in the right mood to enjoy Charmbracelet, otherwise I could never.
Why are we discussing it again anyways
After getting into Mariah I was about to start collecting her albums and my birthday was coming up, so one of my friends got me my first Mariah album. My internal struggle when I saw it was Charmbracelet out of all albums

I know she has nodules, but i really don't think its good to be silent the whole day until you actually get to the mic.
She's needs to practice and rehearse more instead of winging it. That way she'll know what she needs to sing,or how.
It works for me tbh. Like if I play with my voice before I go on stage, I know if it's still raspy,or if i cant hit a certain note toady,So I'll know to avoid it or sing around it when i go out. God knows I want to be the laughing stalk of the church.
Like Mimi she just ...goes out there, and doesn't even try for the note anymore. The lipping is becoming a biT excessive.
Understandable,but..annoying
Vocal rest is good when you're sick or have nods, but right before you go on,you should warm up,it loosens the voice.
Why do you guys think Mimi sounds so good in studio?
because she gets as many takes as she wants, and by her 3 or 4th try her voice had became fluid and warmed up.
|
This is true. I do scales and lip rolls. Idk why she doesn't. 10-15 minutes isn't too much. Wish there was a way to tell her this.

DM her on twitter
Idk..lol
I honestly think that's whats wrong wit her nowadays. Not enough practice.Just because you're one of the best, doesn't mean you cant brush up on your skills every now and again.
When you don't warm up,your voice can still be stiff. Also Mimi still struggles with her nerves(insecurity) she says even till this day,she still gets nervous when she goes on. A not warmed up voice+ bad nerves= equals vocal constricting and a shaky voice.
Hopefully this upcoming year we get some good performances. I don't mind if he dubs,as long as i know she song it live,or it's recently recorded(showing me her voice is in good shape still)
A lot of artist do too..so
but the blatant lipping has to stop.
Like her New Years performance was good, because I can tell she sang live, but dubbed certain parts. Also I like when she moves around, and smiles ,giggles and acts cute by interacting and stuff

I read somewhere probably on some flop site about voices, that if Mariah were to have surgery on her nodules, not exactly sure what kind, but something to lessen their extent, she would lose the ability to whistle but, she would apparently be able to belt more easily and her chest voice would also recover, unless chest and belt are the same thing?
Anyway, would you be here for a Mariah that could no longer whistle at all, but in turn had a stronger, greater belt/chest abilities?

No because the whistle register is what made her so special and I personally don't care too much about her live vocals so,long as they sound good on the album

I wonder what would her voice sound like now if she had never been on tour.

The surgery is so risky though.
Julie Andrews lost her voice because of that.

I think when Mariah turns 50 she should do the risky surgery....and you never know she could come out on top!

I know! She walked away with a huge settlement, but it was no consolation for her losing her amazing voice.
I feel like the technology for the surgery should be so much more advanced now than it was then. I don't know. I also feel like Mariah had to lightweight look into the possibility of it, OR she's just completely avoiding the situation as a whole.

In a way, they are. You use the (mid and upper) chest voice to belt. In having the surgery, she would lose her the ability to whistle as she learned how to use the whistle register WITH nodules. She could learn how again, I'm sure. But the bigger risk with the surgery is losing her voice as a whole (see Julie Andrews, José José, and Ryan Key).
I will always be here for her. Whistle register or not

I'm sure Mariah is avoiding it. She doesn't seem very responsive to her very obvious vocal decline.

There's no point in her putting herself through surgery now, she's had her career. She makes music now for fun, its not even a job to her anymore
