But where would Pepcé be without the iTunes stunt? It is what saved her. This hitless album (though I still can't wrap my head around XO not smashing) would've done even worse than 4.
Pepcé is a master at building and maintaining her brand outside of music. Most artists are only here for the music and don't make a spectacle of their own lives. Pepcé both sells and advertises herself in many different ways, very lucrative ways. The image she has built is why she gets so much media attention and why people go to her tour.
But her career as a recording artist will be harder to pick back up the longer she is without a hit.
