You're forgetting the fact that she's had virtually no televised promo this week, and won't until SNL and the AMAs. That'll push the album, and by that point DWUW will have picked up more steam.

Promotion is no good if it's not well done. Gaga's performances have been pretty underwhelming this Era.

If we see immediate sales increases from SNL, that would still count towards ARTPOP's 1st week sales, right? Not trying to be overly negative, but what promo is lined up for the 2nd week?

Yes, we're all sad our beloved Gaga has declined. We were cocky and now we're getting dragged, but cry a river, build a bridge and get over it.

At this point, I just PRAY that this doesn't drop way too much and sell 100 K in its second week.

Cannot believe she throws a multimillion artRave party for 1800 queens, but doesnt bother to promote.. I hope that when it airs it greatly helps with sales.

Let's put this in perspective: it's not catastrophic for her. 260K is still a lot in today's age of music - so she should be commended for that. I will say that it's really disappointing just because of how far a drop off it is compared to BTW & how much the album sold in pre-orders. It's also disappointing how quickly this decline happened.

ARTPOP is her best album too. I think her image is what is turning off some buyers she use to have the most.



She can stabilize from here for sure. I still think she'll have a long and prosperous career.

Yes, the SNL promo will push immediate sales into this week. And probably next week, too.

Either way, this is what happens after a disappointing era and with no smash single. Ultimately, I thought Gaga could push 300-350k without a Roar-esque hit. She couldn't, but it's still a testament to her album selling powers. Miley and Katy both had huge hits in the top ten when they were pulling their first week numbers, imagine what it would have looked like if they didn't.

If Applause is any indicator of how this era will go, we'll be fine. It'll rise organically. Radio will play the singles, and the album will sell.

Idk how we started thinking that gaga has big opening numbers. BTW is the only exception because she was coming back from a huge era. And I mean huge. The promotion, the hype, the over exposure and the fact that she hadn't alienated half of her fanbase helped a lot. But the fame and the fame monster opened with small numbers but ended up selling a lot. Te fact that this is doing 250k based on hardcore fans alone is pretty amazing. I mean she doesn't have a huge hit single, and hasn't really done a lot of promo. I mean look at applause. Started with 218 now it's up to 1.8 million, gaining on radio. She's starting from the bottom again. Maybe we should too.
