I hope people are prepared for ARTPOP to be slated by critics, underperform and generally be a punchbag for the media.

It won't be fair or warranted but I don't realistically see this campaign going well. There are songs that can be moderate hits, but we saw with "the flop" BTW that even major success is overlooked when there's an agenda to push.

I think, taking the stan glasses off for a moment here, that ARTPOP is great album with some fantastic tracks...but it just doesn't seem to have smash hits waiting to happen, and she needed those. There are Y&I's and Alejandro's on there, not TEOG's and Telephones, let alone BR's and PF's. The problem is that she/they obviously thought otherwise with Aura, Venus and Applause...but now they're off the table, what next?

Hopefully DWUW fulfils its potential and Gypsy becomes a successful third single, whilst she meanwhile wins back critics with "Cheek to Cheek" and possibly adds a further feather to her hat if there is indeed a (good) Britney duet. Release Sexxx Dreams in early summer and late summer debut the lead single from ARTPOP Vol. 2. I think a second volume is inevitable. They've set up an opportunity for a quick turnaround of new material for "damage control" and a way to boost Vol. 1's sales - they'd be foolish to not take advantage. Tour after Vol. 2 comes out (same time next year) so there's enough hits out to convince attendance and enough time has passed to warrant a new tour.

Maybe I'm just being cynical...but maybe I'm not.

Most of the songs are, that's why radio needs to play her current single like crazy.

90% of these songs have the potential to smash, that's why I'm not buying the "there are not smash songs" comments.
