In my thread some guy said that the UK relaxed the rule for David Bowie, so hopefully they relax it with DWUW.

Gaga is adamant that she wants to release the WW, it'd be weird to have DWUW as the single everywhere in the world except the UK, and I don't think they'd want to leave it because it's so important.

Hopefully the Official charts company and Polydoor/Interscope reach a compromise.

They did changed the rule so the FIRST song that comes with the pre-orders can chart.

DWUW is the second, after Applause, so it wont chart.

Katy Perry got the same treatment : Dark Horse charted (first song with the pre-order) but Walking on Air couldnt chart.

Venus reminds me of THE FAME and its carefree lyrics. DWYW will have to battle it out with Rihanna, and it, not stabilising at this point,isnt a good sign, it will linger in between position 4 and 10, the struggle is real gurlz

Stabilizing in between 4 and 10 is called a hit. It's only a struggle in your imagination. Stop.

So I guess they'll just go with DWUW in the UK if they can't reach a compromise. It'll still get it's certification and will appear on the chart after the albums out. Hopefully she gives a great performance and the song really catches on and is still strong in a few weeks, with the video release, etc.

What if all of the sales that the song gets count towards it's first week on the official chart?

Like, it's basically the same as a pre-order, because you're buying the song on iTunes even though it can't chart on the official chart yet, with the only exception being that the song is already released? So then when she's eligible to chart, it'll rocket to 1 on the Official chart.

It's a silly rule yes, but apparently ALL sales are tracked so it's not losing sales it's just not going to appear on the charts.

She needs to delete this and re-release it as a single (like she did for Hair and TEOG) especially in time for X Factor on Sunday so we can get a good week of sales counting for next week's chart.

This is so confusing and messy. None of us know what is and what isn't allowed.

We need to find out if she'll be able to chart if they release it as a standalone single thats separate from the album pre-order.

That'd be so messy. She's adamant that DWUW is getting a WW release, I doubt she'd just drop Venus as an official single in the UK. Even though she's going to get a lot of exposure with the X Factor performance, the UK market still relies heavily on music videos for longevity.

Why isn't this charting in the UK?
