Yes, they're relevant, and more successful now, but they're not Lady Gaga, Britney, or Beyoncé. So they don't get as much hate and don't need as much defending (otherwise known as "gloating"), except maybe for Miley.
As much as I hate to call them "the trinity", these three really do command a lot of mindspace when it comes to pop conversation. They're the trendsetters and the trailblazers (or at least they used to be).
