Discussion: Work Bitch: Risky or Not?

"Work Bitch" has been out for a while now and I know this question has been done before but not when a video for it was out and that changes the landscape. As you can see the song is back at US iTunes Top 10 and its views on Youtube keep jumping. Nevertheless the song just doesn't stop in one position it goes up and down and doesn't stabilize.

I'll be honest, I still am a little let down with this single, I am sure this will end up being the weakest track on Britney's upcoming album but anyway, back to the point... I do find it risky because it's not likable at first and it is very specific. What about you?

Take in consideration

The song is pure EDM;
No song on the radio sounds like it (even if so, no Pop Diva song sounds like it);
Has a very specific target: Gay People;
It is meant for clubs, not radios.

Take also in consideration that being risky ain't an excuse for it to underperform or something. It is just that I have been "laughed" at because I do think this single choice couldn't be riskier.

It's a slight risk given various factors such as which direction Top 40 is currently leaning. It's not like it was a groundbreaking or super-daring risk, but it was a little bit of one.

Nope... EDM isn't risky anymore. Work Bitch isn't even full EDM, it's still pop. Scream and Shout was as risky/more risky and it did amazing WW.

The only risky thing about the song is having the B word in it, stations are so conservative that they censor any little thing. Other than that...

It's funny you talk about Miley because the person who I discussed this was standing up for her music as well. I agree Miley was riskier in terms of music sound but she made sure everyone heard the single though, Britney... Not exactly!

It's risky because mainstream EDM has passed its peak and the song's structure is anything but generic.

I think it was risky in the fact that the EDM trend has passed already, and she's not exactly singing the whole time. For me, I didn't like the song at first. But I found myself singing it and humming it all the time, so the I grew to like it.
