Cast in a rare tough-guy role, Hawke plays it with reasonable conviction, though it’s impossible to say if his weariness is that of a pro racer who bottomed out or a serious actor trapped in the ninth circle of movie hell. Gomez never seems more imperiled than if she’d broken a nail.
Besides being the least convincing carjacker in the history of movies, with her chipmunk cheeks and Disney Channel spunk, her presence in the movie is so clunky and perfunctory if the filmmakers were to give her a name it might as well be Expository Plot Device.
I was expecting a much harsher punishment for my Bleach thread. Also, The Hive > The Clingney Army. They had a sense of humor about it!
