I don't think any pop girl can afford a 4 year break, unfortunately. This industry is very anti-feministisk. On the other hand Rihanna is not a big album seller and as Bill, whatever his last name is, said she is a single-driven artist. If the single is right then yes she can afford a 1-2 year break. The question is tho will the GP remember her after 1-2 years? I honestly don't think so. But we never know.

No. It was because the demand was so high. The GP has always seen JT as musically gifted artist. Even if he did disappear he would have this success.

I was talking about how with Rihanna her music is more exciting because you never know what to expect and even though she's somewhat overexposed people can't get enough of her. Imagine the thirst if she was to go away for 4 years.

"Decent"? She's the best selling digital artist in history, I'd say that's more than "decent" success.

She's never been a force to reckon with because at this point she doesn't really have any competition. She's carved her own niche in the music and pop culture landscape, and no one's replacing her anytime soon.

IMO, she needs to wait and release R8 in Q2 of next year and then a Greatest Hits album in Q4 of 2015 (her 10 year anniversary.) Release 1-2 singles off of that and then come back with R9 in Q4 of 2017.
