Best performances of the night: Gaga, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and Bruno. Those 3 knocked it out of the ballpark! Loved JHud coming out and singing with Mary Lambert, the ending was beautiful. And both Macklemore and Ryan are so freaking attractive, it's crazy.
Katy did as expected...it was a boring, uninspired performance. Really, a boxing match? She couldn't have come up with something more original? And the jump roping was just laughable. And it was 75% backing track and 25% actual live vocals...Way to go, Katy. Truly, at this point, she should just go the Britney route and lip sync all of her performances. At least then it wouldn't be as grating to the ears. In all of the VMAs I've watched, I don't think I've ever witnessed such an anticlimactic closer. They should have had Bruno close the show.
