I hate k pop & I've never listened to any J pop songs before so I'm not here for them

I listen to both. Unless shes speaking Japanese the influences may only be picked up by those who actually care or listen to that genre. Its just an umbrella term not a sound. Kpop sounds stems from many American tracks then then are translated or formed into Korean lyrics with the same beat. So they use the same forms as we do. Not sure if jpop happens the sameway but with the way their music trend is happening now its more dancey than our trend. Other than that unless youre listening to some cutesy Japanese **** I doubt you'll be able to hear any difference.
