I don't think she's underperforming even. If she has too much success now in an era that's already very successful, she'll get overexposed and the GP would get tired of her. Her success is balanced now. And yes I agree with the industry being manipulated thing.

She's already overexposed, ever since 2008. And criminally underrated as an artist.

Tbh I wish she was some irrelevant indie country act whose shows cost like $25 who only played small stage and only we knew about her

Sad that they decided to capitalise via cult of personality. But it's also neat to see Her 'growing bigger'. I'm torn.

I had a discussion with this girl from my school about how she's a little too big for her own good.
If she was an irrelevant indie country act there's be nothing holding her back from making the music she wants exactly. No haters, no publicity boyfriends, just music, cheap shows and easy meet and greets.

I never said the music she make without label pressure would be totally different from what's on Red, but having a dub step inspired song in the midst of the dub step trend after an era underperforming on pop is less convincing. Her story about MM being her hero doesn't seem to genuine. That's all I'm saying, not that her musical direction would be complete opposite
The problem arises when she seemingly dumbs herself down and makes tailor made pop radio songs rather than just what she feels like making. 22 is cute but it just seems like it was made for success more than for art

There were words on the street about Scotty planning to have another MM single. Then just a week after, She was spotted working on the studio where MM works in US. It was exactly the studio he usually booked as well, Studio C.

And those three MM tracks would have been better if they were sung by other popstars. IKYWT sounds like a perfect song for Selena.

Death, like Selena could pull off the aggression. Lord does it perfectly. And Max Martin is Her hero. It has been ingrained in the DNA of Her music ever since LP1. Let's not build myths.

She covered countless MM songs on the SNWT. The denial that you guys have towards believing The Lord like to make pop music is pathetic.
Lets be real, she's signed to an indie label that let's artists choose what genre they want to pursue, and she chose country as her way into the industry, nothing more.
