I would say based on that, Rihanna's had more impact since that whole saga lasted longer with their reconciliation. It especially was unprecedented that a woman of Rihanna's fame level went back to a man that beat her and went back so publicly

And yes, Mariah has better album sales since she has MORE albums and released the majority of them when album sales were large and single sales were low. Rihanna has sold more singles than Mariah and her tours are MUCH more successful, and her impact on pop culture is much larger.
