So you mean you don't care about really good songs with emotion, or things you can't shake your ass too?
Also, you know "QUANTITY" is a unit of measurement, right? I think you meant "QUALITY?"
Sure I care about them, but I don't know what they're singing most of the time? There are a few great ballads that touch me melodically, which I then search a good translation for. Don't make J-pop out to be more deeper and important than what it actually is in the end. Not everybody in the genre is on Utada's level lyrically.
No, I mean what I mean. The share between quantity and quality varies often with many J-pop artists, but all in all their working ethik and good production values is responsible for a great part why I'm so pulled into by it.
Well, I kinda dig the J-Electronica genre besides J-pop, but that's about it. The fact that I'm kinda bored of american music is the sole reason why I resorted to get into foreign music scenes in the first place. In the end, the american and english music business is still the most interesting to me, albeit they've started to re-hash the same old ideas and put them into a new, more shiny package. Good music often comes to you out of the blue, without desperately searching for it, so for the most part I listen to music out of boredom and the small chance that one of the songs I'm listening to perfectly resonates with me and makes me want to call all my friends and tell them about it, sing the song loud in my shower and is stuck in my head even when I go to sleep. It's strange I know, but music means a lot to me, so I'm willing to search for the hidden treasures in the most unconventional places.
Itano Tomomi serving a mixture between Miliyah Kato and Namie Amuro on her new single cover.
I'm glad that i'm not the only one that sees the resemblance of To-monotone & Namie!

Does anyone here like the group Suck a Stew Dry? They have an awesome song called SaSD [eve], but naturally I can't find it since it's J-Pop but i'm going to post the single from the album it's on.
Alex, alot of those links you posted are sh!t btw. Luckily I already had most of these songs on my computer except for several of the Kana songs which were a b!tch to find
GORL let's not. It took me ages to find links for Kana so let's stop complaining.
Chihiro's holy anthems slay my life lately. Her life is so interesting too. I read on Wikipedia she got assaulted and punched in the eyes by her drunk boyfriend, so she filed a lawsuit.
I see Charice was taking notes from the boss Utada for her new image. Newt, explain.
Utada is so important and influential

There's a lot of factors that go into ayu's current state that actually make it a little heartbreaking - the deafness, for example, has affected her live performances in a major way and she basically can't dance anymore because of how the part of the brain that handles balance is located near the ear. I mean, it's aggravating for fans in the sense that she keeps releasing compilations and whatnot, not helping her case as at least a recording artist...I don't know. I think her time has passed for good. You can't fall that hard and just bounce back.
Namie's material is becoming less interesting, point blank, and her live skills won't save her if she doesn't step it up a notch. As much as people love the nostalgia of seeing songs like "Body Feels Exit," if she doesn't carve out some more serious classics for herself instead of in-the-moment messes like "In the Spotlight," she's going to be in trouble eventually...even if it takes 5 more years.
There's no doubt in my mind that Utada has a plan. If TRF could do it, she could do it with twice the success.
Crystal clearly has something up her sleeve, too, seeing who she's been working with and where.
I kind of like where things are going tbh.
I agree with everything
If following the J-Pop industry has taught me anything, it's that everything is short-lived. I don't think the Namie boat is going to float for much longer but I don''t really care as long as her albums are decent and don't descend into Ayu territory.
Also, apparently Ai Otsuka released an album through her band and it completely bombed months ago, I guess her mainstream music career is over
miwa's music isn't doing anything for me. She has an uninteresting personality too and whatever success she may be enjoying rn, it will only be a temporary one time thing probably.
She thinks she's the **** with her gimmicky guitar and her minimalistic voice. Don't bring Crystal into this mess. We both know she would've sold twice, if not three times the amount of records if she wasn't partially black. And she hit #1 because the All Yours era was ON POINT both musically and image-wise. Plus, she was coming off of her biggest hit Koi Ni Ochitara and the fan-favorite album Call Me Miss.
You all need to vote in teh rate tbh. I know most of yall have heard most songs already so it's just a matter of listening to some of Kana her songs and giving her a little chance.
