Mirrors should definitely be played on urban radio imo. Cry Me a River sounds very similar to it and that did well there. It's more urban than Super Bass and OMG are.
Don't Wake Me Up did really well on pop though. i don't know what you're talking about
Yes but he's not a pop staple anymore. What I mean is they're not going to play the song just because it's Chris Brown's lead single. And 'Fine China' is a very different animal.
Suit & Tie was a moderate hit on urban radio. reached top ten. and that was actually an R&B/Hip-Hop song. So there was no "racism" involved but with Mirrors there is? It's just not R&B enough..
which happened to Rih's Diamonds too. it didn't reach top ten on urban because it wasn't urban enough and neither is Mirrors. Let's keep it real here. Mirrors appeals way more to the pop crowd.
And if Chris or Usher released Mirrors i wouldn't call it R&B, simply because i'm not a dumbass. That's not racism, it's knowledge.
You are saying this like people expected Diamonds to go top 10 on Urban. I was shocked it even go top 50, let alone number 11. It was a great success for this song.
Well, before that, I'd assume that Flo Rida had some sort of of top 10 switch on radio, probably with "Good Feeling" and "Wild Ones".
Checking back in the Mediabase archives, GF, WO, and Whistle were already out of the top ten before their successors (WO, Whistle, and IC) could enter.
