Not even the slightest chance of pop girls becoming obsolete. People will always like their pop delivered by females because pop is supported by women and gays. The straight guys like something pretty to look at, too.

Top 40 goes through phases, and it's more or less a cycle of the same genres; R&B/urban, dance/pop, alternative/indie and pop/rock. We just had dance/pop, preceded by R&B/urban, and we've been in the alternative/indie phase since more or less. The constant, however, are the pop girls. They're always around, just perhaps not the same ones.

Aside from Taylor all the pop girls era's have been really underwhelming recently. The only recent exciting one (besides Red) was Teenage Dream and that got dragged out so much it became a bore by the end. The last great pop girl era was The Fame Monster. Gaga spoilt us so much that era no one (not even her) can live up to it now.

I disagree. I think that if you look for it, there's actually quite a big variety among the pop girls!

the current crop of pop artists have run their course in terms of excitement. They were exciting in 2009 and 2010 cause they were fresh and their music was fresh. Unfortunately, people get tired of anything and anyone that cant alter their sound over the long haul.

The pop scene is just transitioning, and I do agree that the "main pop girls" (by ATRL definition) are becoming boring.

You can't really present any facts that suggests a decline in quality pop music or a decline in innovating performing arts, because it's entirely relative.
