Rihanna and Gaga are the queens of the pop world. And I'm not insecure about none of both.

Considering you have a Gaga avi, and the fact that you've been in this thread defending her up and down the streets, I apologize to have assumed you were a Little Monster. I'll make sure to check your last.fm next time I comment even though it's nowhere to be seen in your sig whatsoever.

since chart success and single sales are very closely related, this cannot even be argued about

"lack basic cognitive functions in your brain" = ?
Do I even have to explain myself?
I don't care though, you're insulting yourself when you recur to that so I'm cool.
And Forbes includes the money they made from all sources.
I repeat, Gaga wins.

Which is why Gaga fans brought tour receipts.
A hyperbole, yeah I know that. But you didn't just say "fell off the face of earth", you also added "the second week", which is why I gave you a few chartruns where you can clearly see it wasn't the case everywhere (France, Japan and UK being among the biggest markets)
|
The "second week" comment is still in the realm of a hyperbole. Have you ever known a song that disappeared the second week it was released? No, because there is none. Clearly I was still exaggerating my point, but if you don't see that then that's your problem.
No matter which way you spin it, Judas wasn't a hit. You've already admitted it wasn't so I don't know why you're still arguing that point. It went Gold in selective few countries and couldn't scratch 2x platinum in the US (or is it even platinum yet, I'm not sure). If that was a Katy single, you'd be in here calling her local and forgotten among other things. Let's not backtrack.

I already made my point clear.
Gaga's singles flopped and even her most successful BTW single, which was a Madonna+TLC homage at best (her words, not mine), vastly underperformed compared to her previous fame+monster efforts.
To add Katy to this equation: she outsold most of Gaga's BTW singles and broke MJ's record.
So the answer to the question at hand: Whether Gaga can outdo Katy's iconic 6 #1s with #artpop2019? NO
|
Katy released cheapo rapper remixes to appeal to a market that by cultural and societal standards aren't supposed to even look at her music with an ounce of interest, as well as bringing her prices down to the lowest she possibly could without violating Billboard's rules.
once she realized E.T. worked the way it did she began using cheap tactics. and Part of Me isn't credited to TD's record so we can just drop that 6 #1 singles nonsense right now.
bottomline, Katy shouldn't even have that record, MJ did it by being MJ and not cheating. doesn't take away from it being a successful era.

Nobody forced people to buy Katy's music. Remixed or not, the general public has a decision whether they want to purchase a song. Tons of remixes for songs get released a year, but nobody ever talks about them. Unless you can bring up receipts of Katy's label buying their own copies of Last Friday Night, she didn't cheat. Clever strategy/promo/tactics and taking opportunities while you have it would be the better word for this situation, since according to Billboard, what Katy's label did was 100% fair game.

let's not pretend Katy is this evil genius mastermind and only she features guests on her masterpieces to appeal to a broader audience.
You're just probably pressT that Gaga herself tried it multiple times but still failed to register any more interest in her failed singles.

Of course I know that, but staying 5-8 weeks in the top10 is not what I would call "falling off the face of earth the second week" (you clearly mean leaving the top10-20 ).

My whole point is that it didn't flop everywhere. 250K in the UK is not flopping. 75K in France is not flopping. 100K in Japan is not flopping.

Yes you lied, and I'm not going to repeat myself over and over and over again.

In the end it's not that big of a deal, people didn't buy her $0.99 singles, but were willing to pay over $80 to see her live.

when will H-I-M learn that repeating lies won't make them become true all of a sudden no matter how many times you repeat them...

Sounding like a Jessie J stan there. Tons of singles are successful somewhere, but you don't see those stans trying to brag over it. It would be embarrassing if Judas wasn't a semi hit somewhere in the world, but since it went Gold in such few countries, and is literally erased from history now, shows how much of an under performance it was (except for France, Japan, and Brazil as if that's helping your argument). Case closed.

And once again blame your fwend sGabe4 who said that every single this era (except BTW) flopped, everywhere. France, Japan and UK are among the biggest markets in the world...
Anyway, case closed, let's move on.
