Rita Ora has revealed to Digital Spy that she is recording her new album in secret.
The singer insisted that she doesn't want the public to have any idea what her second record will sound like.
Talking to Digital Spy before her acoustic performance at the launch of the Sony Xperia Z and Xperia Tablet Z at Mobile World Congress 2013, Ora said: "Well, me and Sony have come up with a great plan to do an album really kind of, it's almost like doing it in secret.
"Obviously everyone knows I'm doing an album but I don't want anybody to even have a clue of what it's going to sound like, I just want it to come out. I think that was the problem with the last album. I think that everybody knew what was coming so this album is all about being almost in secret."
She continued: "We're doing it right at the moment. It's going to be [released] this year - I don't really want any gaps. But it's all in due time. I'm doing a lot of research on the road - it's like going back to music and studying it out."
Describing the sound of her new LP, she teased: "We've been working with Dev Hynes a lot on this album. It's just coming from a different place.
"It's still Rita. It's still that party girl that people love but it's from a different angle."
The star's debut album Ora spawned the number one singles 'R.I.P', 'How We Do' and DJ Fresh collaboration 'Hot Right Now'.
i was thinking the same thing, she's a mess and a flop and yes people you can give me warning points for stating the truth, i did however like How We Do.
I'm not sure what the secret is. We've known she's been working on an album, and now we know it'll be out this year and that she's working with Dev Hynes on a lot of the songs, which already spills the tea on what the sound will be like.
Why is everyone so against her working with Dev Hynes?
That would be the best decision she's ever made in her entire career. Seriously. I could so see her singing some Solange/Sky Ferreira type music, and receiving critical acclaim. I love Rita, but I would love her more.
She said that the sound, guests, theme will be a secret, not the fact that she is recording. People love to tiwst and turn, just open your eyes and read....
I am excited for Rita's 2nd album! The first proved that she is a popstar, she now has to find her "thing" in this bunch.
