Discussion: The Taylor/ADELE paradox

It seems Tay has such a rough time because of her writing style, than ADELE who writes in the same theme lyrically. Both @ the same age, both genre specific yet ADELE is the lady who seems to get more critical acclaim for her projects.
Is this fair? Are there other factors at work here? Does Taylor's willingness to flaunt her peens in front the camera a disadvantage? Is ADELE more "legitimate" because of her size? Does Taylor's juvenile nature a detriment to her? Discuss

Taylor's critically acclaimed, and she has an AOTY win under her belt too. She's not at any disadvantage, really.

of course it's fair.
The scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
vs
You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together

Taylor has more critical acclaim as far as music goes, i'd say.

I think it's because Adele SEEMS to be older and so a love song from her sounds more authentic, I forgot they were the same age (Not saying Adele looks old, she just seems more mature)
Plus, Taylor is more country and that's really only big in America

ADELE makes music for adults, Taylor records C0UNTRY music, which appeals to the young genrations. This's one of many reasons why ADELE is more successful both critically and commercially.

Anywayyyyy, Taylor Swift is the more critically acclaimed artist.

Yes, very fair. Adele's lyrics are mature and heartfelt AND about 1 man AND only on one album.
Taylor's lyrics are childish AND she sung it about 100 different men by now AND she's been stuck with the same theme for 4 albums in a row, which is beyond ridiculous by now.
Not to mention that Adele got a much much much better voice and it's full of soul and emotion, compared to Taylor's thin and kinda annoying voice. And when you add it to those annoying bubblegum pop songs about boys that she's been doing, the results aren't surprising at all.

ROFL. Adele became only the second artist in history to win all the Big Four Grammies. She's probably about to win an Oscar as well.
More importantly than that, her lyrics are much mature than those of Taylor, who primarily targets a teenybop audience.

I doubt you've even listened to the Bible's. She has grown tremendously from her debut to RED, evolving with each era and progressively making BETTER music than her peers. State of Grace has elements of the **** about them, but she actually has substance to it
"Up in your room and our slates are clean
Just twin fire signs, four blue eyes" compared to "the usual rihanna song".
Then again, to listen to Taylor and understand her lyrics needs a certain level of intelligence. It's not possessed in many people though

Well, a BIG girl singing about losing her MAN is going to sit well with other BIG girls who lost their man. You know, unlucky in love and all that

I've got all her albums. RED is her 2nd worst. Certainly the most childish. And State of Grace is a straight U2 rip-off. Her themes are still the same, so she hasn't evolved into anything.

What a terrible excuse. Like there aren't enough skinny girls who are "unlucky and all that".
The difference is that Adele's music appeals to all audiences, where as Taylor's to teenage girls.
