"We were to born to break the walls down, fight until the end, its something that's inside of us, that's how its always been"
So, two long years, two long years of "soons" and "its coming" and finally it came. Ke$ha's second album, and it...blew me away at all cost. With the first single "Die Young" being great and refreshing to finally hear some new Ke$ha, it made me crave for more, and I was hoping to see that big growth she promised us, and she did not let me down. This album is pure joy, nostaligia, living free, being happy, and enjoying all parts of life. Its such a great album, and I will call it my Best Pop Album of 2012. While some songs start going into the same details they all come with a different sound. Its amazing hearing the growth in Ke$ha, and how well she's starting to become her own artist.
We open the album with, of course, Warrior, my favorite title track, and opening track this year. A great way to set the whole tone for the album, such an anthem, and such a great track to let loose too. Of course, the singles so far "Die Young" and "C'Mon" come after, and while nothing special, they certainly give us that vintage Ke$ha feel that we all fell in love with. Finally, we hear that new sound Ke$ha has been hinting at with "Thinking Of You" , such a sassy, in your face, power jam. Its rude, raunchy, and ballsy, three things I adore about Ke$ha. "Crazy Kids" and "Wherever You Are" are a give or take, the best parts being the bridges that she is serving. We go into more of Ke$ha new sound with the amazing "Dirty Love" and the country inspired track "Wonderland' that gives such an incredible feel its hard to ignore.
The consistency that this album has was probably my favorite, every part of the album does its job from start to finish, usually other albums will fail at one part, but each section holds its own. Of course the deluxe, showcasing the best song on the album, "Last Goodbye", Ke$ha's most tear inducing track since "The Harold Song".
It was truly an experience waiting for this and finally listening to it in full, I'm sure this would have been my number one album had it not come so late in the year, and I'm sure this will be my favorite to listen to in 2013.

Yeah, an EP. Not really an album, but its my list. To be fair, I barley got into her this year, and I loved her album, which got me interested in downloading this little number, and I'm so glad I did. Wynter set out to create two EP's, all base on human feelings, called Human Condition, similar to what Robyn did with Body Talk. The first being called, Doleo. On first listen I was blown away and was not expecting that from Wynter, on "With The Music I Die", she was sassy and full of energy and spunk. Doleo is soothing, enchanting, and magical. A complete turn around from what her normal sound was, and it was incredible. I've never been so in love with the way a whole EP/Album can make me feel, and Doleo really taps in your emotions.
"Stimela" one of my favorite tracks this year was a great way to open this album, right away it takes you somewhere else and your in a place sonically that is wonderful. "No Hush" a great follow up with its rhythem making you want to move all slow and sexy. Then going into "Nervous" , which I love the way she sang this, I think that was my favorite part of the track how it was sung. Then comes "Kids" a song I connected so well with, a track about someone losing themselves, and Wynter sings how she missed who they use to be, and the innocence of who they were before, a great touching track. "Bad Thing" and "Waiting" are two great ways to end on a strong note, with "Bad Thing" having her repent her mistakes as she blares for forgiveness.
It was a great listen, and I'm glad it made its way into my iPod because this year wouldn't be the same if I hadn't listened to the album. Its for free on her website so of course you guys should all take a listen, you won't regret it.

"This is the last time, because you and I, we were Born To Die"
Here it is, my album of the year, and for a very good reason. I never had an album that really described a part of my life, or that meant something so special to me because of the memories that it brought and the impact it had on a particular moment this year. I played this album over and over again. It was the album me and my two best friends would play all Summer long. I don't think there was another album that I played this Summer to be honest. It just grew on me so much. I mean, there's a whole story on why a lot of it went so well with that time in my life, but that's nothing to be discussed here! Then when "Ride" came with the Paradise Edition, it was just sealed that I fell in love with this whole package.
It was new, it was haunting, the lyrics were something else, and it was easy to get connected to for me. I me I know its kind of depressing to get connected to an album that deals with subjects of extreame infatuation, being used, losing friends, losing who you are, feeling lost, and not knowing what's right, but a lot of times this year that's how it was. Like I said, I never connected with an album so well before. So it was something else.
Songs like "Born To Die" , "Without You" , "Summetime Sadness", "Blue Jeans" , "Dark Paradise" , "Ride", "This Is What Makes Us Girls" , and "Video Games" especially were the stand outs and favorites of mine. This is certainly an album I will remember for a very long time and never forgot about the memories that came with it .

Halcyon really amazing album. I'd also been anticipating it for a long time, loving her debut, but this album is on a completely different level. it's more electronic and I like that, it goes very well with her angel-like vocals. the second half is indeed not as strong as the first, but it's still a mesmerizing album.
Warrior now that I've listened to it for a while, I really do think it's a good pop album, and the diversity you described is one of my favorite things about it. it has classic Ke$ha dance songs but also ballads and rock tracks, and I'm so glad she went in that direction. I enjoy listening to this a lot.
Born To Die on #1 I never knew you liked it so much I get what you mean about connecting with this album, I feel similarly, and I'm just so in love with the whole atmosphere of this record and the vibe that it creates. it makes me feel like I'm in a dream, or in an old movie or something like that, and I can just dive into the songs and forget everything else around me. amazing.
this was a great list
