There are only a handful of Pokémon with a higher base Speed stat than Galvantula. Allowing you to move first in pretty much every battle.

The move you want to start with depends on your opponent. Dark-, Grass- and Psychic-types can easily be knocked out with a super effective Bug Buzz. Ground-types are immune to Electric, so the same goes for them.
Water- and Flying-types can sometimes be killed with one Electro Ball, but you might want to boost it first. Thunder Wave is a perfect solution, because not only does it reduce the speed of the foe to a mere 25% of its original total, it also has a 1 in 4 chance to fully paralyse the Pokémon, making it unable to move. This strategy also applies to the remaining types of Pokémon of course.

Ability is there to further boost your Speed when you find yourself in a long battle and happen to fight against a Pokémon with moves you can easily resist.

Unnerve prevents the use of berries and I find it to be very useful in battles on the Battle Subway. Plus I don't even need Compoundeyes with the moveset I'm currently using. The combination of Compoundeyes and Thunder has obviously crossed my mind, but I don't think it's the best option. After a Thunder Wave, the base power of Electro Ball is 150 in most cases, which is higher than the base power of Thunder. On top of that, the 91% accuracy simply doesn't sit well with me. That one mis out of 10 can be crucial.

As I have said before: Agility is a wonderful move if you're up against a Pokémon with moves that you are resisted to, especially in Galvantula's case. Use it once in a battle, and you won't have to result to Thunder Wave anymore.

Galvantula may be fast and you might think a speed boost won't be necessary, but Jumpluff's Sleep Powder, Gengar's Hypnosis or Cinccino's Sing can really catch you off guard. Better safe than sorry, right?
