Obama knows that a large part of the 47% of the teens and young adults sees their parents losing jobs, foreclosures and drowning in credit card debt. Things are happening outside their control, it's scary to see the known world collapse around you and you can't do anything about it. They could go for darker music like I did in the past.

The Firework video shines in the despair. Katy is showing that there is a way out of the problems (Because many kids in an ex-commie country tried it before you and even they succeeded.) and reminds them to keep trying, not giving up. Obama understands why people are watching endlessly Firework on YouTube and wants this anthem on his side.

I like the Obama 2008 campaign. It was magical, great speeches and the optimism to being able to make a difference.
