Let me go back and read the comments because I know Frank had the girls seething with his position. As usual.

The Velvet Rope top five and I didn't even vote
ChannelORANGE, Aaliyah and B'Day all higher than Thriller And in THAT order I love B'Day but c'mon it's so disposable as far as R&B goes.
Also, Thriller being in the rate though Dangerous should be there if anything, but Michael kinda doesn't belong in this rate... His best albums are largely pop (aside from OTW).

Aaliyah, CO, and Bday are better than Thriller. OTW isn't eligible because its more than 30 years old (but it's better than those 3 albums).

The two bad songs on Thriller really drag it down. Bday has no really weak songs....
well unless you want to count the deluxe version.

I can understand thinking Aaliyah is better. It's a landmark album. But CO and B'Day? CO is overwrought, both drowsy and melodramatic. Its best moments are incredible but it's too long. I haven't listened to it in full since the day I bought it. Thriller is concise and it packs a punch with hit after hit. It's just not R&B. But it's like Janet's Control... they both got down to business, cut the **** and kept what was necessary, save for one or two songs. (I'm pissed Control isn't here but I'm not at all surprised that ATRL forgot about it since RN gets more attention and is more ghey/pop-friendly.)
B'Day is a fun album but it's not a standout. There's very little substance there. I just don't think it's sane to put something with Welcome to Hollywood, Beautiful Liar and If on it above an album that includes Beat It and Human Nature.

Welcome to Hollywood is a bonus track though. Let's not act like EVERY bonus track on B'Day deluxe is not trash.

Well honestly I'm not the biggest fan of Thriller. I know it's hugely influential, and I like the videos for it, and I mean it is a good album. I like 4 of the songs a lot, and then enjoy about 3 moderately. I know CO is a bit too overwrought, but it's slightly better than Thriller. B'day's deluxe tracks are pointless, so you're right with the last part. But Suga Mama > all Thriller songs sans Billie Jean.

IMO the way she mucked it up and rereleased it with diluted material should count against it. Although I love WWW.

I'm not either, but it's still an amazing album. I just think it's overexposed to the point that its songs sound ordinary now. (Not Beat It and The Lady in My Life, those will always be amazing.) CO is not better than Thriller in any universe lol. Suga Mama is the best but your gay is showing.
If you love Suga, you'll like all of Rich Harrison's stuff tbh.

Let me reply to all of you.
7 of 9 songs on Thriller are R&B or derivatives/ancestors of R&B, which I said were acceptable. It is eligible.
B'Day is Beyonce's second best. Resentment is its best track. Deja Vu, Suga Mama, Kitty Kat, etc. >>>.
channelORANGE si brillianTomatoes and I'll here nothing else.

Worldwide Woman is decidedly the worst song on B'Day. Basic 2006 R&B. It sounds like something you'd hear in the background of a BET Black College Tour commercial in the mid 2000s.

My gay can show as much as it wants. I'm not a fan of the Thriller ballads. I've listened to them a lot, but MJ's ballads don't "do it" for me most of the time. The Lady In My Life especially
Show me a good Rich Harrison song.
