So normally I wouldn't reply to a troll, but this post is so Romney/Ryan that I need to break this DOWNE.

That's simply a lie. The civil rights movement had leaders, names that will forever be marked in our history; and men like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are still widely considered leaders of their community today.
The same is true for the gay rights movement: Harvey Milk, Cleve Jones, Larry Kramer, Brenda Howard, Mark Segal, Barbara Gittings, Vic Basile, Wayne Besen, Bishop Gene Robinson, Judy Shepard, Dustin Lance Black, Gavin Newsom, Josh Seefried, Dan Savage; and that's just some of the gay rights movement leaders JUST in the US.
Sadly, due to our education system and the apathy of youth, most people that read this post will probably have never heard of any of these brave men and women (Harvey Milk being the most recognizable name - only because of the film).

it's detrimental to the cause to be associated with someone like Gaga who is a pop star and not a thinker or a politician...she does not command respect among the masses and is not knowledgeable enough in the matter to be acting like she's a real gay activist, and she isn't even LGBT herself.
|
Who are you to say that Gaga isn't a thinker? Who are you to say that Gaga isn't a "real" activist or that she isn't a part of the gay community (which, by the way, includes straight allies). How do you know if she's knowledgable or not? She's been awarded several accolades from high-profile gay organizations, so I would doubt that insinuation you make the most. If you google "list of gay activists," chances are you'll find Gaga, along with Madonna and Cyndi. And how is having one of the most powerful voices on the planet on our side a detriment?

She represents, among the general public, a very narrow and stereotypical definition of what "gay" is and that's not something that should stay on her concert stage and not enter politics.

So you're trying to stereotype Gaga supporters? Perhaps you should join the other side.
So Gaga should keep her trap shut and sing?
Some very ignorant people said the same thing about the Dixie Chicks too. You stan for one of the most politically-charged musicians of them all; a man that most likely inspired Gaga to combine music and activism.
Your narrow views are troubling.
