It never ends well. NEVER. I don't care how "cool" you are. Somebody always develops feelings and ruins it.

Then what happens to that friendship when one person develops feelings?

Well or you start acting weird around him, or you confront him, either way the friendship is over.

And the sad thing is you think you can pull it off, like in the movies. That it's just sex, with nothing attached. But you can't help it.

I don't disagree with the idea with it, if you just want to get off. But a lot of people can't handle it because feelings eventually get involved. Sex is an intimate act.

That was different than most traditional friends with benefits relationships, though. They dated before they were friends with benefits, so the feelings were already out of the way. Hooking up with exes is easier than hooking up with a friend you've never had a sexual relationship with before. Sex ruins everything, really, unless you're willing to let it develop into a relationship.
