rihanna and katy are manufactured in different ways
rihanna I believe has some kind of input in her image and "theme" of an era, her personality it's truly hers and even though she doesn't have almost any input in her songs she chooses which songs are part of the album (as we seen in the talk that talk videos that were shown prior the release of the album)
katy on the other hand writes her own songs and has her own ideas but i don't think she has much power when it comes to making decitions as we que can see in this bonnie mckee interview :
Quote:
Bonnie: Katy and I wrote and rewrote this song 4 times...Finally, we thought we had cracked the code, we wrote something that was based on the metaphor of “trying me on”, comparing the feeling of wearing new clothes to sex, kind of a “Dress You Up in My Love” deal, and we thought we had it, but then Benny Blanco came in and was like “no.” Luke always makes us “Benny Proof” everything. He says that if Benny doesn’t get it, America won’t get it.
Katy and I looked at each other with dread, knowing we had to start all over again. He said, “something more like this” and played us The Teenagers “Homecoming”, but at that point we were both so over it we just called it a night.

as you can see katy has creative input but is not her decition at the end of the day

Its sad that when someone says something critical about Gaga, he is always considered a hater or marked as jealous. Its just my observation.
For your info, I have posted my opinion about who is manufactured and I havent mentioned Gaga.

I love Britney to dead, but as long as the thread says "at the moment" I must say that britney cause she is not taking control of her career really, so sad but truth, other than her, must be... I think Katy Perry, and I dont know about kesha, is just that I heard a ballad from her, I dont know the name, and it was awesome, but she come with her party songs so that sounds to me manufactured, and for god sake, JUSTIN MANUFACIEBER is on my top, I think Rihanna and Beyonce are by little out of this, and Lady Gaga is so far from being manufactured, she works hard, and there is the confussion :Guitarra:

can u guys tell me what ur defintion of manufactured is because for me its someone who dosent write ther own music, dosent really have a distinct personality, dosent do or say anything controversial, isnt too creative image wise...meaning they stay the same,no parental advisory sticker, and it wouldnt feel akward taking someone under 13 to their concert........to me that is someone like justin beiber, one direction, britney spears, katy perry (maybe), kelly clarkston, brandy career until now
dont understand how rihanna is manufactured...i mean so she dosent have a writing credit but if she was manufactured like she was until really the end of gggb she wouldnt have released rated r,loud,or talk that talk, she wouldnt have a twitter, she wouldnt have gone on oprah, she wouldnt sing birthday cake, and wouldnt do a big image change every album.........like what are yall seeing, gaga and beyonce clerly arent either

What you need to realize is that "bad girls" can be just as much manufactured as Disney acts. Why wouldn't a label want to cash in and exploit the most attention grabbing event in their star career? Let her swear on tracks, public will love this, the money will roll. When it didn't quite work out they set up writing camp for Loud really quick. Rihanna had no part in the writing process, she choose producers and then showed up when material was ready.
Quote:
For her latest album, Loud, she and Reid assembled a battalion of professional songsmiths—writers, producers, musicians, demo singers—and installed them at several studios in Los Angeles for two weeks to write songs specifically for her. Reid guesses they numbered about 50 people and finished around 200 tracks. The best made the album.
