I see nothing wrong with age differences, it all depends on what the other person is like and how well you relate to each other and bounce off each other (no innuendo intended).
His past makes him seem dodgy but I don't think we can hold onto that forever. Plus her relationship with him outlasted her relationship with most (maybe all) her previous relationships, not too mention the fact that he stuck around when she was in rehab.
