When I was in year 9 we had SAT's again, the results would determine which sets we were put in for core subjects. I think nowadays most schools do some exams at the end of year 9 and also start prep for the GCSE's once the KS3 curriculum has been completed.

GCSE's aren't too difficult tbh, wait until you get to A-Levels
