- Opening up my top 5 of 2006 is "Dani California", by the little band named "Red Hot Chili Peppers". This song is my favorite rock song of '06, it's just insanely awesome. Written about a character that featured in previous single "By The Way", "Dani California" is all that is good about RHCP. The song is full of energy with the guitar solo that ends the song amazingly. The video is one of the best videos of 2006, with The Chili Peppers paid tribute to other famous bands. Their amazing double disc album, "Stadium Arcadium" which sold over a million copies is now nominated for the upcoming Grammys. Hail, The Red Hot Chili Peppers!

- Gnarls Barkley with their hit "Crazy" at number 4 on the countdown. The UK music-buying public has responded by making it the first #1 pop single to reach that spot from digital downloads alone the week before the official single of "Crazy" goes on sale, that's history. "Crazy" is just perfection, Cee-lo's voice with Danger Mouse's stripped-down beats merged very well. Their other grest singles like "Smiley Faces" & "Gone Daddy Gone" are featured from their album "St. Elsewhere", but only "Crazy" stood out the most for me. Their videos of the three singles are also new and different, which is always good.

"Crazy" is okay...Bey, Xtina, and...who else could be left?

- Ring the alarm! Oh yeah! the third and highest Beyonce song on my countdown is at number three. I really don't give a **** if you think this song is bad, because this song is truly awesome. Beyonce still had that strength and express it through her songs, for this it's anger. She's pretty damn angry in this video which was also clever since it reminisced you of the movie "Basic Instinct". The get-the-hell-out-our-house-you-bitch! Swizz Beatz production is really hot, and definitely one of the best songs of 2006. If 2005 is Mariah's year, then 2006 is most likely B-year.

Like last year, before I go into my top 2 albums and singles of 2006. I would like to introduce some of the artist I think will have the chance to be big in 2007.

My List : The Next Big Thing In 2007



Gym Class Heroes - a four-member hip-hop band from Geneva, New York. Their sounds might be similar to artists such as Stetsasonic, The Roots, etc. Their new single "Cupid's Chokehold" sampling Supertramp's Take a Look at My Girlfriend" is refreshing and they definitely made it their own. They are the band that might have a chance to break out big time in 2007.



Rich Boy - The new single "Throw Some D's" is all over the radio. This southern rapper will release his self-titled album in 2007. Rich Boy already worked with hip-hop heavy weight producers like Kanye West, Polow Da Don, Mannie Fresh and Timbaland so you know the guy gotta have something to show us musically.



Katherine McPhee - A runner-up on American Idol season 5 who was lost to Taylor Hicks might transforms herself into a new pop-sensation. Her self-titled debut which set to release at the end of this month sounds really promising. Her first single "Over It" is super catchy, other songs like "Dangerous" and "I Lost You" are also great. Hopefully, we might have just found another Kelly Clarkson in the making.



Men, Women & Children - the rock band uses a combination of post-punk guitar similar to The Rapture and disco synthesizers akin to LCD Soundsystem. They were played during the MTV2 Presents Welcome to the Universe $2 Bill Tour with 30 Seconds to Mars. Their songs are pretty good, check out "Messy" a great tune from these guys.



Saigon - Born in Newburgh, New York, he's all about real hip-hop. You might have seen Saigon on a couple of episodes of the HBO show, "Entourage". Saigon is currently signed to Just Blaze's Fort Knocks Entertainment record label and is working on his highly anticipated major label debut entitled The Greatest Story Never Told. The first single "Pain In My Life" featuring Trey Songz is already out, and big things awaits him in 2007 for sure.
